Well
waking up on the Saturday morning and I thought we would be victims
of the weather yes it was pi**ing down but by 12.00 all was well and
the sun was just making its first appearance.
After a quick trip to the shops to get essential supplies (burgers and
the like) it was a dash back to get set up.
Dave (Mr Cumbria Scaffolding) was setting up the Barbie base and I began
to construct the Barbie. Alison had cooked our tatties and chicken legs
in the pub kitchen so we were pretty organised (for us anyway!!).
Guests started to arrive as the three o'clock kick off drew near so
I was called upon to carry out the pyromania for the afternoon.
With
the Barbie lit and smoking away quite nicely and the sun beaming down
on us we were looking forward to a good afternoon.
Burgers and sausage finally on the Barbie and its soon very obvious
that I'm going to be busy the first few burgers were well charred but
ho hum throw some more on
The guests are starting to look hungry so I start to throw burgers and
sausage at them but alas Alan McCoy keeps coming back for more and even
the lasses are getting stuck in.
The food and drink keep flowing and the music keeps on playing pity
the band let us down but everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon even
Tammy's dog Jack!!
A few late arrivals turn up at Six O'clock (a newspaper up Carlisle
way had mixed up the time) but we still managed to rustle up a few burgers
and sausages.
Most
of us were meeting up in town later on that evening so we headed off
home after a quick tidy up!
Thanks to Neil and Allison from The Lowther Arms for letting us hold
the do there and cooking our food also to Archie who sorted out the
music even if he was a bit like Alan Freeman (mate?) some of the time
(pop pickers) and also to Dave for the scaffold and the cricket club??
for the barbeque.
A
big thank you to all who supported us as well! We may even do it all
again next year!!!
Cheers!
