Furness MAG Piel Island Party

Unfortunately I had to go to this event in my car as my sexy ZRX1100 is still in the hospital awaiting transplants…

Founly ViewSo with my sidekick Pete we headed south through the twisty roads towards Ulverston then onto the coast road to Rampside to meet Mike and Chris.

Pulling up at the Concle Pub we exchanged the usual derogatory greetings and started to enjoy the weekend i.e. Get Drunk.

Soon it was time to move the car near to the Ferry so we could cross to Piel and start to party for real. So after unpacking the car, we had Caroline's gear with us kitchen sink n all!! we boarded the ferry (small motorboat) and headed off to the Island.

I had never been to Piel before and I must admit that the scenery looked quite nice from the pub window, wThe Ship Pubell I had already put Caroline's tent up so I had been outside, and my accommodation in the bunkhouse seemed agreeable.

As the afternoon rolled on more familiar faces turned up and the crack and beers were flowing quite nicely. There were Hoadhog's, Beer-monsters, and Pie eaters all enjoying the crack and pies and beer. Mikes misses Barbara fired up her stereo and the music encouraged some revellers to dance?

Raffle tickets were being sold to raise a bit of cash for MAG and the Landlady's Favourite charity, with lots of MAG people hoping not to win the prizes that they had donated. There was also a blind auction that raised some more cash for the coffers, though as a lot of people were already blind drunk the bidding was high.

Several beers more and its time for bed, staggering to my bunk and popping my ear plugs in (essential for getting sleep at Rallies) then big zzeds time.

The Ship BarMorning, feeling a little worse for a night on the ale, the old bladder tells me its time to get up and its raining, thank God I wasn't in my tent like poor old Pete, Ha just lurve bunkhouses (well apart from the snoring, farting and comings and goings). Back from the loo and its fried breakfast time, the full Monty, kill or cure for a very reasonable price.
Now we are all killing time, the ferryman has obviously had a good night as it's after 12.00 and there's no sign of him!! Some people even resort to drink to alleviate the boredom Mike (Bee Gee look alike) was probably topping up as he'd been drinking shandy for most of the previous day (puff).

We went for a walk in the bracing wind and parted with some of our own! And watched Dave York negotiating the route off the island through the sand with a mad dog following him.

The ferryman finally showed and we headed back to join the queue for the ferry as he picked up loads of bikers and dropped them at the jetty. Back on land and breakfast still inside me it was time to head for home with my first rally of the year to write about.

Piel View

We all had a great time and Rod and his Misses looked after us all so Cheers to them and to all from Furness MAG for an enjoyable evening.

I'll Be Back!!!
