Well
waking up and the sun was shinning, what more can you ask for when you've
got 200 miles to play on your bike!!
I headed off to Egremont to fuel up and head to the Cemetery lay by
to wait for the rest of the crowd to appear. Dangerous Dave was already
at the lay by when I arrived and soon others drifted in and parked up.
We were supposed to leave at 10.00 but it was nearer 10.15 when we finally
set off towards Cockermouth and Maryport. The back road was the usual
nightmare with cars and tractors blocking the road with no safe overtaking
place but we all got to Maryport in one piece.
Heading
north towards Wigton and the road is a lot better fast sweeping bends
and good road surface see us all making good progress and it seems like
no time at all till we are turning for the B5305 to Penrith. This is
a great road its got the lot, straights bends, and good visibility all
great things for us biking types.
We finally join the A6 above Penrith and head down to through Penrith
and on towards Shap. Lots of bikers heading north are flashing us and
sure enough we soon come across some diligent officers with a revenue
generator but we all just bimble past at the correct speed ha! Heading
on south to Kendal and its new roads for me and its fantastic, the views,
the road and the relative lack of traffic but soon we enter Kendal and
have a fuel / toilet stop.
We head out towards Sedbergh and on to Hawes on the A684 which is another
good road which it's spoiled a bit by the traffic on the narrow twisty
section towards Sedbergh. Arriving at Hawes and its lunchtime. There
is plenty of food available so I decide to go for some pie and chips.
There's lots of bikes coming and going from the various roads around
Hawes and the crack is fairly good as everyone mingles and tyre kicks.
But its time to head to Ingleton so we set off and head south on the
B6255, which turns out to be another good road, only marred by the patches
of freshly gravelled roads. We finally arrive at Ingleton and head west
along the A65 to Devils Bridge for a brief stop and tyre kick. Then
it's back on the bikes and heading west to the M6 to join the A590 to
Greenod. Getting out of the junction at Devils Bridge is a nightmare
but eventually we all get out but we have been split into several smaller
groups.

Turning onto the A5092, heading north, we are all heading for the Square
Café at Broughton in Furness for another stop before the final
blast home. Ice creams are the required fuel as we laze around in the
sun having the crack about the run and asking the crew what they thought.
Then its back on the bikes for the final blast home.
It seems that yet again we have been lucky with the weather and from
what I've heard everyone enjoyed themselves.
We may think about organising a run with an overnight stay to Scotland
or some other exotic location just what this space
..
Thanks to all that turned up and we look forward to the next run cheers!!
